JUNE 14 & 15 Studio Stroll

I wanted to let everyone know early about an upcoming "Studio Stroll" in Asheville's River Arts District.

Twice a year, every second weekend in June and November, Asheville’s River Arts District opens to the public for two days of festivities known as the STUDIO STROLL.
2008 Studio Stroll dates: June 14-15 & November 8-9!

I'll be selling pots at my studio, The Clayspace Co-op. See you there!

Pete Pinnell: Thoughts on Cups

I came across this video of Pete Pinnell speaking about cups. He juried a cup show at the Charlie Cummings Gallery in Indiana. I've always admired his pots. His attention to detail is absolutely incredible. It's a 30 min. video, so check it out when you have time.

American Folk Art & Framing Asheville, NC

Tonight I went downtown for the gallery crawl or art walk in Asheville. I was surprised to see so many galleries so crowed because, after all, it was really rainy and nasty. I had a few pots at American Folk Art & Framing for a show called "Thirteen ways of looking at a blackbird." This show was appropriate for the work I've been making lately. A big thanks goes to Betsy Rose for including me in the show. I snapped this shot of Tim and Betsy Rose promoting blackbirds, Topo Chico mineral water, and feather boas.

Afternoon color show

The other day I was working in the studio making pots. About 5pm, the sun shines abundantly through out the large studio windows. A previous tenant installed a prism, about 3"tall x 14"wide, on one of the windows. It never fails to create a beautiful spectrum of color on whatever it hits. I've never seen my work with this much color.
