Kiln's lit, wine is poured

The kiln is loaded and lit. I had two pots that were decorated that didn't get in. A small bowl and a larger bowl. I'm freakin' blown away. It looked like one and a half kiln loads when it was sittin' down there in my basement studio. This little kiln eats pots. There's quite a few platters in this load. They are a decorator's dream. I also made some cups, jars, vases. I'll be posting the finished pics next weekend, I hope. My studio, The Clayspace Co-op, is having a show at the local cafe in the river arts district. I'll be pulling pots from the kiln on thursday, sanding them, and taking them to the cafe to set up. Talk about fresh! If, you're local, or plan to visit, I eat at least five meals a week there. Awesome. I spared you another "ugly kiln door" picture. It was "ugly!"

Holla, y'all

I'm glad to visit my own blog, for once. There's so much satisfaction in reading everyone else's blog, that I forget about mine. Well, this past weekend was pretty much nonstop pottery-related fun. I was decorating pots most of the time. It took me about seven days, part-time, to decorate these pots for the upcoming firing. I'm glad to be finished and am already thinking about what next on the list to make. Below are several photos that sum up my weekend. THROWN SINK decoration in process

CRAZY GREEN STUDIOS OPEN HOUSE
lori theriault, owner, and friend jane renfoe
Lori is teaching ceramics at her new facility in West Asheville.
She's got quite the set up. I should have snapped a shot of the pugmill.
jealousy.
SCHENK'S CREAM ALE mmmmmmm..........
So, at the open house, Lori offered up a Schenk's Cream Ale. So, here's the story. One of my studiomates, Melissa Weiss. Her husband's face is on this bottle. He is bad ass when it comes to brewing beer. One of the local breweries, Highland Brewery, just brewed and bottled his beer. I think it was due to him kickin' ass in a brew contest.
Anyway, we sucked down a wee bit of it.

Mint Museum: Potters Market Invitational

So, I'm back from the Potters Market Invitational in Charlotte, NC. This show was incredible. I sold a lot of pots and met a lot of new collectors and potters. There were 40 potters from across the state, exhibiting a wide range of work. Contemporary pottery, folk pottery, and ceramic sculpture filled the large outdoor tent. There was a long line out the door before the show started. Between 10am and 1pm, most of the transactions were made. Lots of wrapping and card swiping going on. As an added bonus to the great show, the Delhom Group (the one's who put the show together) purchased a piece of mine for the Mint Museum's permanent collection. This was a huge surprise and very flattering. Most of the potters I spoke to had done well at the show. Hopefully I'll be invited back to do the show again.
